Dimension forms new company focused on service platforms for mobile Internet The IT integrator Dimension is strengthening and concentrating its offering for the telecom sector by forming a new company focused on IT infrastructure solutions for third-generation mobile networks. The new company, Dimension Telecom Solutions, is a wholly owned subsidiary with resources and client projects from various parts of the Group. Initially, there will be around ten employees. The new Managing Director, Göran Warpefelt, has previously held executive positions at Ericsson, among others. In Dimension's estimation, the telecom sector is facing two decisive changes: first, the transition to the mobile Internet and 3G, and secondly, a consolidation on the network side. As a result, competition will increasingly revolve around content and network services. These changes, Dimension feels, are creating major opportunities. Demand for operational and monitoring services will grow significantly, as will operators' need for expert competence to ensure availability in networks and speed up the launch of new services. "Infrastructure solutions for the telecom sector have always been a high priority in Dimension's operations," says Sven Uthorn, Managing Director of Dimension. "By bringing together our expert competence and experience in a separate company, we can enhance our offering for telecom companies and gain an even stronger position as a supplier of service platforms for the mobile Internet. Dimension Telecom Solutions also gives us the opportunity to broaden operations to include integration services for billing, CRM systems and monitoring." The Managing Director of Dimension Telecom Solutions will be Göran Warpefelt, who has extensive experience in the IT industry, including executive positions at Ericsson. During the period 1997-1999, Göran was a member of the management group at Ericsson Mobile Communications, prior to which he was responsible for IS/IT operations at Ericsson Radio Systems. More recently, Göran has run his own consulting business specialized in organizational development. Other management staff will come from within the Dimension Group. Telecom companies will remain a priority client segment for the parent company, Dimension, with respect to infrastructure solutions for internal corporate IT environments.
