Europe’s leading annual trade show for natural and organic products looks set to draw a healthy crowd this weekend, as over 8000 visitors prepare to attend Natural & Organic Products Europe 2010. The two day event will take place at London’s Olympia over Sunday and Monday, 11-12 April.

Over 500 companies are now confirmed to exhibit, 200 of which will be appearing at Natural & Organic Products Europe for the first time. Thousands of new natural, organic, biodynamic, fair trade and sustainable products across all categories – including food and drink, beauty and spa, sports nutrition, functional foods and VMS – will also be making their debut, with many new UK launches being specifically timed to coincide with this vital industry event. More show firsts include a trade screening of Food Inc. (8:30am on Monday 12 April in Olympia’s Pillar Room), plus no less than five new pavilions – including a HFMA Pavilion, an Active Health Pavilion, country pavilions from both Ecuador and India, and the UK-based West Country Food Pavilion. The Soil Association will also be launching their yearly Organic Market Report – the most comprehensive study of UK organic trade – during a dedicated session in the show’s Keynote Theatre at 11:30am on Monday 12 April. Notable show highlights include Keynote sessions on Sunday 11 April by leading nutritionists Patrick Holford and Dr Adam Carey (starting at 11:30am and 12:45pm respectively), plus a dedicated panel discussion on “Biodynamics: Demeter Quality – Food with Character” outlining biodynamic techniques and their benefits (2:45-3:45pm). Heather Mills, Gillian McKeith and Rose Elliot (MBE) will also be hosting demonstrations in the show’s popular Organic Kitchen (starting at 12:15 and 1:30pm on Sunday, and 11am on Monday respectively), which is sponsored by biodynamic meat specialists Heritage Prime. The Natural Beauty & Spa Theatre, sponsored by Kinetic Natural Products Distributor and Dr Bronner’s Magic Soaps, will feature a host of top beauty experts, including Simon Duffy from Bulldog Natural Grooming (on Sunday 11 April at 12pm) and Michael Bronner (grandson of the original Dr. Bronner) and Essential Care co-founder Abi Weeds discussing “Fairtrade in Action” (on Monday 12 April, 12:45-1:45pm). Meanwhile, Comvita have invited Dr. Paul Talalay to appear as their guest speaker in Olympia’s London Room on Monday 12 April at 1pm. Dr Talalay is Professor of Pharmacology at Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and part of the research team who discovered the potential link between eating cruciferous vegetables and reduced cancer risk.
