Innovative Coffee-Based Brand Donating Sales to Benefit Women in Coffee-Growing Communities

Portland, Ore. (September 6, 2011) – Barista Bath and Body, the award winning natural line of coffee-based bath and skincare products, is proud to announce its partnership with Grounds For Health, an international non-profit that has been establishing sustainable women’s health care programs in coffee-growing communities since 1996 and its “Campaign for Giving”. The “Campaign for Giving” asks women everywhere to show their solidarity with women in the developing world who are often without access to basic health care and screening. Purchasing coffee-based products from Barista Bath and Body sends resources back to these countries, helping women coffee farmers and their families.

In support of Grounds for Health’s “Campaign of Giving”, Barista Bath and Body is donating 5% of all net sales during the month of September to Grounds for Health. Net sales will be calculated from sales to retailers including all of their coffee distributors, coffeehouses, spas, salons and baristabathandbody.com e-commerce site (www.b3products.com), as well as sales during Barista Bath and Body’s HSN appearance on September 19th. Additionally, Barista Bath and Body will donate 5% of its net sales from orders placed during the upcoming Coffee Fest – Seattle specialty coffee tradeshow.

“Barista Bath and Body was introduced to Grounds for Health at the NCA Convention in New Orleans in April by their Development Director, Jane Sakovitz Dale. As a woman-owned business, we immediately saw the synergy between our coffee-based line and their work with women in coffee-producing countries. Coffee and coffeehouses have, historically, been the channel for innovative ideas and the catalyst for historic change. A collaboration between two organizations with coffee as their foundation seemed very natural”, said Nancy L. Scuderi, President of Barista Bath and Body.

Grounds for Health focuses on screening and treating women in coffee-growing communities for cervical cancer, the number one cancer killer of women in developing regions despite the fact it is 100% preventable, treatable and curable. Grounds for Health’s staff and team of medical volunteers collaborate with regional coffee cooperatives, community members, and local health care professionals to increase awareness about cervical cancer, establish screening campaigns, and improve cancer-prevention infrastructure by training in-country medical personnel so that the programs become self-sustaining. Grounds for Health currently runs programs in Mexico, Nicaragua, Tanzania, with invitations from El Salvador, Peru, Colombia, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and many more for future sites.
