Clocking 45 percent growth, Document Solutions, Inc. (DSi) continues to expand with new hires in technology and client service. It also recently enlarged the office space at its Nashville, Tenn. headquarters location to accommodate its growing employee base and opened a new office in Cincinnati, Ohio to expand its geographic footprint. The electronic discovery firm is also exploring new opportunities in digital forensics, data recovery and document review. By continuing to bring in top-flight technology talent, such as the application systems architect and enterprise infrastructure architect recently hired, DSi has the resources to stay ahead of industry trends in litigation support services, including adapting e-discovery to the era of cloud computing and social media.

The explosion of electronic discovery in the legal profession is evident in the corresponding growth of e-discovery firms like Document Solutions, Inc. (DSi) – the first company in Tennessee to provide e-discovery services.

DSi’s workforce grew by nearly 45 percent last year and it is still growing, increasing its employee base by 6 percent in just the first three months of the year with the hiring of four new members of the company and the promotion of one. To accommodate the recent tremendous growth, DSi has also added approximately 2500 square feet to their existing space.

DSi is Tennessee’s largest litigation support, electronic discovery and digital forensics company, with offices in Nashville and Knoxville, plus a new office in Cincinnati, Ohio. It serves law firms and corporate legal departments throughout the Eastern US.

The new DSi employees are Steve McKisic, application systems architect; James Smith, enterprise infrastructure architect; Nathan Dager, e-discovery solutions consultant; and Bethanie Conley, review manager. Additionally, Stewart Conradi has been promoted to IT systems technician in the Nashville office from his former position as imaging operator in DSi’s Knoxville office.

“Our company has been blessed with strong growth thanks to the quality of our people, who have enabled us to establish a reputation in our industry for quality work and outstanding customer service,” said Tom Turner, DSi co-founder and president. “The people that we have hired recently have demonstrated that they have the talents and commitment our clients expect. We’re happy to welcome each one of them to our team.”

Conradi is a Certified CompTIA Network+, A+ and Green IT technician with four years of experience at DSi. He is responsible for providing networking, hardware and software support to the company and its clients while applying Green IT best practices, as well as using cost-cutting power management and IT virtualization techniques.

McKisic is an experienced systems and solutions developer and administrator with knowledge of a wide array of programming dialects and eight years experience in project management. He comes to DSi from Emdeon Business Services, where he was responsible for the installation, maintenance and enhancement of IT applications serving healthcare providers across the nation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in humanities and a Master of Education degree from Bob Jones University and is currently pursuing a master’s in Computer Science from American Sentinel University.

Smith is a software engineer with 14 years of IT experience who has accomplished significant work in the field of enterprise .NET design and development and has extensive experience in SQL database development among many other technical skills. Smith joins DSi from Emdeon, where he served as R&D Staff Engineer III designing and writing several proprietary software applications. He earned an associate’s degree in pre-engineering from Gulf Coast Community College, Panama City, Fla. and studied computer science and engineering at Stetson University, DeLand, Fla. and the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Fla.

Dager comes to Document Solutions, Inc. from IKON Office Solutions where he worked in the mid-Atlantic region as national commercial imaging consultant to Fortune 500 companies, and, prior to that, as legal document services account manager serving Philadelphia’s large law firms. His experience also includes seven years with MTS Software Solutions, Inc., a large document technology company providing electronic content management software and document imaging services. Dager was northeast territory manager for MTS, responsible for the Philadelphia, Delaware and southern New Jersey markets. He oversaw all aspects of the MTS product line: hardware, software and services.

Conley attended Delaware Technical & Community College and has a strong background in sales and customer service. In her previous positions, she managed a diverse client base and was credited with raising the overall level of service they received. DSi review managers serve as a client’s main point of contact with the firm, helping clients take maximum advantage of DSi’s powerful e-discovery tools.

“Our annual revenue has grown an average of 32 percent per year for the last four years, However, the cost of e-discovery is coming down as a result of better, faster and less expensive technology being developed (some of it by our team), thus our firm’s income is continually under assault,” said Kevin Tyner, DSi co-founder and CFO. “We need to generate 25-35 percent more volume each year just to stay even in revenue, but fortunately, we have gone far beyond staying still to phenomenal growth because of our extreme focus on quality, speed and accuracy in everything we do.”

“We also strive to remain ahead of industry trends, which is foundational to our company,” said Turner. “We were the first company to do e-discovery in Tennessee and we continue to lead the way in adapting what we do to the ever-changing legal technology market.”

New directions the company is exploring to stay ahead of industry trends include adapting e-discovery to the era of cloud computing and social media, expanding its digital forensics and data recovery services, and adding document review services so that DSi becomes a one-stop e-discovery shop.

To accommodate new personnel as well as the other changes within the company, DSi recently added approximately 2,500 square feet to their existing space, bringing them to 10,500 square feet total.

“This expansion shows our confidence in the processes we’ve perfected for e-discovery and digital forensics, and it has allowed us to move people and departments into areas where they can function most efficiently,” said Tyner. “Our new space includes a new and larger data processing room, a second conference room, a new sales support office, individual offices and an employee lounge.”

DSi is also renovating existing parts of their space. They are expanding their data center so that it can hold double the capacity and number of servers that they have currently, and they are building a new state-of-the-art forensics lab connected to their existing data vault. The high level of security already in place for the vault will increase to encompass the lab extension.

“Because we stay ahead of the technological curve in our industry, we continue to be Tennessee’s recognized leader in litigation support services,” said Turner. “Because we focus on extreme customer service, our clients trust that they will received their desired results. And client satisfaction is our ultimate goal.”
