Dollar General and Charlotte Motor Speedway partner with Susan G. Komen for the Cure to support breast cancer and honor survivors

Goodlettsville, Tenn. (October 14, 2011) – Dollar General presented Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the nation’s leading breast cancer awareness and research organization, with a $50,000 grant during pre-race festivities at the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday, Oct. 14.

“Dollar General is pleased to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure in its efforts to raise awareness of breast cancer and search for a cure,” said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General’s chairman and CEO. “Many Dollar General employees and customers have been affected by this disease, and at this year’s race we are pleased to bring awareness to it and honor those who have fought for their lives.”

In support of breast cancer awareness and to raise funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Dollar General and Charlotte Motor Speedway renamed the Oct. 14 NASCAR Nationwide Series race the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage. The race sported a pink theme and honored breast cancer survivors in a “ring of survivors.”

Dollar General also exchanged its traditional yellow for pink on its race car at the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage. The special pink race logo was on the No. 32 Dollar General Chevrolet driven by Brian Vickers in the DG 300.
