On October 25 at 16:00 CET, DomainCrawler, a leading B2B provider of structured web data, and Global-Anti-Scam Alliance, a worldwide anti-scam initiative, are holding a webinar on the global situation with scams in 2022. During the event the findings of the Global State of Scams Report will be presented. Speakers of the event are Jorij Abraham, Managing Director at Global Anti-Scam Alliance and Rickard Vikström, Founder at DomainCrawler.

Online scams are on the rise. Most developed countries now state that between 20% to 30% of all crimes reported to the police are related to online fraud which is only the tip of the iceberg. Both individuals and businesses are suffering from the malicious activity of wrongdoers accounting for nearly $50 billion loss last year.

Moreover, the current way hosting companies, SSL certifiers, e-commerce platforms, email houses, registries and registrars offer their infrastructure allows scammers to set up web shops or conduct any other type of illegal online activity very easily, cheaply and most importantly, anonymously.

That is why it is important that the internet community unite forces in this combat. But what is the situation with online scams globally and locally, what have we been doing so far, and what should we be doing onwards?

These and other questions will be answered on October 25, at 16:00 CET at a free webinar Global State of Scams 2022 organized by DomainCrawler and Global Anti-Scam Alliance. The speakers of the webinars are two established professionals of the Internet industry – Rickard Vikström and Jorij Abraham.

Rickard Vikström is one of Europe's most prominent Internet entrepreneurs, involved in several companies as a founder and a board member including Holm Security, Wincher and Internet Vikings. Driven by the vision of indexing the entire Internet, he started DomainCrawler in 2008 which now possesses one of the biggest databases web data in the world helping brand protection agencies, domain registries and registrars, and other companies fight against infringement and abuse on the Internet.

Prof. Jorij Abraham has been part of the international eCommerce community since 1997. From 2013 – 2017 he has been Director of Research & Advise at the Dutch Ecommerce Association and the European Ecommerce Association with 25.000+ members in 20 countries. He now is Managing Director of Global Anti Scam Alliance, whose mission is to protect consumers from getting scammed. He is also e-commerce professor at the University of Applies Sciences, TIO.

It is the second webinar hosted by the companies in their mission to raise awareness about the situation with illegal activity online and about the ways to combat it. The event will be interesting to a wide circle of listeners, including lawyers and IP professionals, brand owners and brand protection agencies, domain registries and registrars, etc.

The webinar will consist of three parts:

  1. Keynote by Jorij Abraham during which he’ll present the findings of the Global State of Scam Report in 2022 answering the following questions:

  • What is the global situation with online scams and cybercrime?

  • How are countries preventing, reporting & fighting scams?

  • What are the ways to protect against fraudsters on the individual, business and state levels?

  1. Panel Discussion with Rickard Vikström and Jorij Abraham hosted by DomainCrawle’s CCO Alona Borzhemska. During this part speakers will discuss the following:

  • What are the biggest obstacles for the effective anti-scam activity?

  • How to find balance between protection of personal data and combating scams?

  • Whose responsibility is it to conduct due diligence processes on a person who procures a domain name?

  • How do brand protection agencies, registries and registrars build better communication to combat domain abuse and cyber fraud?

  • What data does Global Anti-Scam Alliance use to fight scammers?

  1. Q&A time during which speakers will answer questions from the audience.

“We are really excited about the opportunity to conduct this webinar for the second time in a row. It is very important for us as an Internet community to recognize the problem of online scams and cyber fraud in general and unite forces against wrongdoers. Our webinar is dedicated to discussing the most effective ways of doing that”- says Rickard Vikström
