Dometic Acquires the World's Leading Manufacturer of Air conditioners for the Pleasure Boat Industry Dometic, leading system supplier to the international recreation vehicle and pleasure boat industries, acquires American Taylor Made Environmental (TME), the world's leading manufacturer of air conditioners for pleasure boats. TME further strengthens Dometic's position in the pleasure boat industry. "The TME acquisition is an important step in strengthening our position in the pleasure boat industry, a very attractive segment of the leisure and recreation industries," says Dr. Sven Stork, President and CEO of Dometic. "Together with SeaLand, acquired in January 2002, we are able to create a more comprehensive offer to our pleasure boat customers." Founded in 1977, TME has two production facilities in the USA and one in Italy. The company also has warehouses and sales companies in these countries as well as in England. TME's product range, that apart from air conditioners also include refrigerators and battery chargers, are mainly sold directly to pleasure boat OEMs worldwide. TME has approximately 290 employees. TME is acquired from the Taylor Made Group, Inc. per August 1, 2003 and will be integrated into Dometic's business area Recreation Vehicle (RV) and Pleasure Boat Systems. Dometic's international offering within business area RV and Pleasure Boat Systems today includes refrigerators, ventilators, air conditioners, cookers, ovens, awnings, generators, lights, windows and doors as well as sanitation systems. TME is Dometic's third acquisition since the separation from Electrolux was completed in January 2002. In January 2002 SeaLand, the leading US manufacturer of sanitation systems for pleasure boats was acquired and in January 2003 Dometic acquired MIKO, Germany's leading manufacturer of lighting systems for recreation vehicles.
