On Monday DONG Energy inaugurated a new innovation centre with the objective of giving further impetus to the development of the energy solutions of tomorrow. The centre is situated at Skærbæk near Fredericia in Denmark, where DONG Energy has brought together a number of the company’s leading energy specialists.

”DONG Energy’s innovation centre will be actively involved in forming green energy solutions for our customers. In that way we want to pave the way for stable energy without CO2 – which is our vision for the company,” says Anders Eldrup, CEO of DONG Energy.

Strong expertise in research and development is a deciding factor in order to be able to achieve this vision. The aim is for the innovation centre to become a potent hub and meeting place for customers, partners, researchers and politicians wishing to be actively involved in developing new energy solutions.

”By opening the innovation centre, we are sending a clear message to the world that DONG Energy is prepared to work together with other players and form visionary partnerships,” says Fritz H. Schur, Chairman of the DONG Energy supervisory board.

The inauguration of the centre was marked by a big technology conference in the old turbine hall at Skærbæk Power Plant. DONG Energy’s supervisory board Chairman, Fritz H. Schur, welcomed more than 200 participants from politics, research and the business sector.

At the event the Danish Minister of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Eva Kjer Hansen, and the head of the Danish Commission on Climate Change Policy, Katherine Richardson, spoke alongside DONG Energy CEO, Anders Eldrup, and others.

With the current energy challenges as point of reference, DONG Energy presented a number of the company’s concrete activities and initiatives within research and development of the energy solutions of tomorrow.
