Donkey Republic Expansion in Finland is now Becoming a Reality
Donkey Republic has agreed on the roll-out plan for deploying 770 Donkey pedal bikes in Turku, Finland. (Contracting Authority: Municipality of Turku)
As previously mentioned, Donkey Republic has signed a SaaS model-contract with Turku to commence operations in the Summer of 2022. Donkey Republic and the Municipality of Turku have been working together over the past months on signing the contract and agreeing on the roll-out plan. The start of operation will be in June 2022, with a duration of 4 years, plus an additional four (2+2).
Once the operation is up and running a total annual revenue of approximately 1M EUR p.a. is expected throughout the lifetime of the contract in line with Donkey Republic´s business plan. Donkey Republic will be responsible for providing the bikes and ensuring a smooth operation of the bike share. In addition to this agreement for the city of Turku, neighboring municipalities also have the possibility to join the bike sharing scheme, giving a good expansion outlook.
Donkey bikes will be integrated into Turku's local transit scheme, helping fully integrate Donkey rides with the rest of the public transport. This shows again how Donkey bike share is treated as a part of public transit.
