DriveSafety Unveils New CDS-200 Clinical Driving Simulator for Rehabilitation
Tool for recovery, independence, and mobility now more affordable for clinics helping patients who have suffered functional loss.
May 21, 2013, Salt Lake City, Utah – DriveSafety, Inc., a leading provider of advanced driving simulators, today announced the availability of its new entry-level Clinical Driving Simulator—the CDS-200. The DriveSafety CDS-200 helps therapists in clinical environments assess and rehabilitate patients with driving-related issues and starts at a lower price point than its flagship CDS-250 simulator.
“Clinicians now have a more affordable option for incorporating interactive simulation into their practice,” said DriveSafety CEO and Founder Doug Evans. “While the CDS-200 has a simplified ‘cab’ presentation compared with the higher-end CDS-250, it does have excellent ergonomics and provides all the essential controls and cueing systems required to use our popular SimClinic™ driving scenarios and interactive exercises.”
Therapists use the CDS-200 driving simulator for treating and evaluating a wide range of functional abilities, including visual/perceptual, cognitive and motor control functions. The CDS-200 ships with the SimClinic Standard Library of 19 driving scenarios and patient activities, and can also include the optional SimClinic Expansion Modules for Interactive Exercises and for Learning Basic Controls.

The CDS-200 display consists of three 19” (diagonal) LCD screens each with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and provides a total rendered horizontal field of view of 110 degrees. The system includes a comfortable and sturdy vinyl-covered free-standing chair. To accommodate patients of different shapes and sizes the entire system can be moved up or down electronically and the steering wheel and pedals can be adjusted independently.
