    EU legislation sets out requirements for phasing out plastic within certain groups of single-use products. The BioPak business area is well advanced with sustainable alternatives. During the year, for example, the Duniform® concept has become increasingly based on renewable raw materials. In the field of single-use products, there is a strong focus on phasing out and replacing fossil-based virgin plastic with more environmentally smart, non-fossil alternatives. In 2021, the EU’s single-use plastics directive (SUPD) came into force, which bans the sale of certain single-use plastic items.

    Leading the way for sustainable paper mills

    Rexcell Tissue & Airlaid AB operates the Group’s paper mill in Skåpafors, Dalsland. In 2021, it took two significant steps towards a more environmentally-oriented operation. In the autumn, the paper mill received its first delivery of propane gas from renewable resources, probably as the first paper mill in the world. The aim is to use only propane gas from renewable resources by 2027. The BioLPG is mainly produced from residues from the food industry.
