National Leaders and Policy Experts Join Firm

For Immediate Release

(January 21, 2013 - Washington, DC) – National communications and public affairs firm Agenda announces the addition of two nationally recognized senior policy experts to the firm and the formation of an Advisory Board to support its public affairs platform and provide clients with high-level policy and political guidance.

Former U.S. Senator and Nebraska Governor (D) Ben Nelson and former Secretary of Agriculture and North Dakota Governor (R) Ed Schafer are joining the firm as Senior Advisors. Schafer and Nelson will be engaged on a daily basis with Agenda’s creative approaches to advocacy. They will also head up Agenda's newly established Advisory Board.

Members of Agenda’s new Advisory Board are accomplished senior officials with extensive policy, management and/or political experience at the local, state and national levels of government.

“We are excited and privileged to have Senator Nelson and Governor Schafer join our team,” said Agenda Partner Craig Pattee. “These guys reflect our business strategy. They know how to work across the aisle to get things done and understand the nexus between modern grassroots advocacy, governors and states and the federal government,” added Pattee.

Retiring from the U.S. Senate last week, Senator Nelson said “this last election proved that to get things done in Washington, you have to be able to build coalitions. That’s what this business is all about.”

Governor Schafer added, “I am glad to be working with Ben again. As governors, we were able to bring a state perspective and performance experience to Washington. In today’s political environment, bi-partisan local impact is more important than ever!”

“Agenda is increasingly bringing new ideas and knowledge to the table which benefits our clients and their issues,” said Agenda Partner Doug Turner. “We are thrilled that these accomplished national public policy leaders have joined our team and are excited about the unique niche we have created in the national public affairs and communications space,” added Turner.

Senator Nelson brings a wealth of expertise in defense, sequestration, and veterans issues to the firm. Governor Schafer brings national leadership to energy, trade, natural resources and broadband technology issues. Both are recognized for leadership on agriculture and biotech matters.

Agenda will announce additional Advisors in the coming months.
