Overall winner of the E1/R1 Amateur Photo Award 2020/2021 is Stefano Pannucci, Italy
Competence Center Hiking WALK, Detmold announces winners of the Europe-wide amateur photo competition
The Italian amateur photographer Stefano Pannucci from Catania, Italy, was crowned the overall winner of last year's "E1/R1 Amateur Photo Award" with his motif "Alcantara". The competition is organized by the Competence Center Hiking WALK, Detmold, Germany, and was held in its third edition. The Hiking Competence Center is located in the immediate vicinity of the R1 (European long-distance cycle trail) and E1 (European long-distance hiking trail) intersection in the Lippe region, North Rhine-Westphalia. The Amateur Award annually appeals to hikers and cyclists in 19 countries to photographically record their impressions along these two long-distance routes and submit them in four categories. Stefano Pannucci was the overall winner in the "Heaven and Earth" category. French participant Stéphane Navailles won the "Man and Nature" category with the motif "Escape from the storm"; Erica de Haas, Netherlands, took first place in the "Animal and Nature" category with her shot "Grey Day - High Water", while the motif "Stars Contact" by Giovanni Laudicina, Italy, was the winner of the "Culture and Landscape" category. Each category winner will receive a prize worth €500 and the overall winner Pannucci will receive an additional prize worth €3,000.
E1/R1 Amateur Photo Award - a success story despite Corona times.
Once again, Corona has delayed the judging of the competition until the end of 2021 in numerous unfortunate chained circumstances. Nevertheless, the District Administrator of the Lippe district, Dr. Axel Lehmann, considers the photography competition a success story: "The E1/R1 Amateur Photo Award has made a name for itself in the community of hikers and cyclists beyond the borders of Germany. And this within only three years and under Corona conditions, where traveling within Europe was only possible under difficult conditions. The competition has achieved international recognition, as shown by the winners: once again we have an overall winner from Italy, and among the winners in the categories we recognize participants from France, Italy and the Netherlands. The Competence Center Hiking WALK, it may be noted, has created with the photo contest an internationally established product that has its origins here in Lippe."
And in order to let the citizens of Lippe, who by the way have also submitted numerous photos each time, share in the excellence of the award, Günter Weigel, Managing Director of WALK, is planning something special for the spring: "We are trying to set up an exhibition with all the winners and nominees of the last three years. We already have an idea of the exhibition venue, but we won't be able to reveal more details until the next few weeks."
