East Capital appoints further expertise to Advisory Committees

East Capital, leading asset manager specialising in Eastern Europe and China, is strengthening its Advisory Committees by appointing three new advisors.

  • Al Breach, a renowned expert on global emerging markets with a long research background as an economist at UBS and Goldman Sachs
  • Torbjörn Becker, a renowned expert on Eastern European economies and is currently Director of the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) at the Stockholm School of Economics
  • Christer Ljungvall, a renowned expert on China development, specialising on growth, institutions, regional development, financial stability and China’s banking system

Al Breach

Al Breach is on the Board of Directors of Bank of Georgia as well as Vostok Nafta, and the co-founder and Chairman of TheBrowser.com. He has held a number of positions in Russia such as Managing Director and Analysis Manager at Brunswick UBS/UBS and Russia & CIS Economist at Goldman Sachs. He wrote the economics journal RET for SITE & LSE and also worked as Fund Manager at Rothschild Asset Management in London. Al Breach holds a degree in economics from the London School of Economics and a degree in mathematics from the University of Edinburgh.

 

Torbjörn Becker

Torbjörn Becker is the Director of the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) at the Stockholm School of Economics. His work covers macroeconomics, international economics, financial markets, debt management, fiscal policy and development issues. In previous positions at the IMF, he worked on emerging markets and developing countries in Eastern Europe and Russia, the Asia Pacific and the Middle East. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the Stockholm School of Economics.

 

Christer Ljungwall

Christer Ljungwall is a China expert specialising on growth, institutions, regional development, financial stability and China’s banking system. 2004-2009, Christer was a guest researcher at the prestigious China Center for Economic Research at Beijing University. He works for several international organisations and is active in several research projects about China’s economy and will begin a lectureship in economics at Copenhagen Business School. Christer is a doctorate in economics from the University of Gothenburg. He has published academic and popular scientific articles and authored two books.
