East Capital boosts global investment teams with raft of new hires
East Capital, the emerging and frontier markets specialist, has announced new appointments across three international offices.
Jakob Wikander has joined as Portfolio Manager responsible for East Capital Multi-Strategy Fund. Jakob joins East Capital’s Stockholm office from the asset management unit of Bank of Åland, where he worked as a portfolio manager and analyst with a focus on global interest rates and European equities. Jakob previously worked for East Capital as a portfolio analyst from 2009–2015. Jakob holds a master's degree in economics from Uppsala University and is certified CIPM from the CFA Institute. He speaks Swedish and English.
Michał Czerwiński has joined as an analyst in East Capital’s Stockholm office. Michał is responsible for research coverage of Central and Eastern Europe supporting Portfolio Advisors Tim Umberger and Eglé Fredriksson. Michal has an established knowledge of markets in Eastern Europe with previous experience of stock analysis from roles at brokerage houses Santander Brokerage Poland and Trigon. Michal holds an MSc degree in Computer Science from Poznań University of Economics and speaks Polish and English.
Sanat Sachar has joined the company as an analyst based in East Capital’s Dubai office. Sanat will assist Portfolio Adviser Emre Akcakmak, providing research coverage for Global Frontier Markets. Sanat joins East Capital from AL Mal Capital where he covered the Middle Eastern market. He holds an MBA degree in Finance and Accounting from the Indian Institute of Management and is a CFA charter holder. He speaks Hindi and English.
East Capital will also soon announce an imminent hire within the Asia team, based in Hong Kong, whilst Francois Perrin has been appointed Head of Asia. Francois will continue to lead the company's investment and research activities in Greater China and contribute to the sustainable investment framework.
In the field of sustainability, Paul Nissan, based in Stockholm, has been promoted to the role of Research Assistant, working with Partner Karine Hirn who recently took over the role of Chief Sustainability Officer. Paul Nissan joined East Capital in 2017 and holds a master's degree in finance from Uppsala University and a master's degree in accounting from Mälardalen University. He speaks Swedish and English.
These announcements follow on from the recent appointment of Anders Borg as an Advisor, continuing to strengthen in-house capabilities.
