East Capital Group releases Sustainable Investment Report – Emerging markets are key to achieving the 2030 agenda
East Capital has integrated ESG risks and opportunities when investing in emerging and frontier markets for 25 years. We have developed unique insights and methods that we apply across our investments. Today we are proud to release the 2021 Sustainable Investment Report, which for the first time covers the entire East Capital Group and highlights tools and results from all our brands, including Adrigo, East Capital, East Capital Real Estate, and Espiria.

Unique insights and proprietary analysis tools
Since East Capital was founded in 1997, we have worked for positive change and our efforts have yielded results. As long-term active owners, we see a need to organize a company's knowledge, experience, and perspective on ESG risks and opportunities. As a result, we have been using our own ESG scorecard for our emerging and frontier markets portfolio holdings since 2016.
During 2021 we continued to develop and implement new ESG tools., The SDG VCA (Value Chain Assessment) evaluates companies' impact on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through their value chain for the holdings of East Capital Global Emerging Markets Sustainable. A similar evaluation tool based on SDGs is now also used for the Espiria SDG Solutions fund. These tools reinforce our belief that investors must search broader in order to gain exposure to truly sustainable investments at reasonable valuations. The brightest stars are found among future-proof companies.

Other significant events in 2021
2021 was characterized by strong growth in sustainable investments, and during the year East Capital Group established a partnership with impact investor Alquity, became a SASB Alliance User Member and a supporter of the Transition Pathway Initiative. Espiria launched the Espiria SDG Solutions fund and joined the Net Zero Asset Managers initiative. East Capital Group became a signatory to the UN Global Compact and we have promoted better ESG standards in countless keynotes, seminars, and meetings around the world.
