Marlow, UK, 16 November 2011 – Softcat has been recognised for its organisational excellence at this year’s UK IT Industry Awards. The IT reseller won the ‘Large Supplier or Major VAR of the year’ award in recognition of its achievements in the provision of IT software to public and private sector clients.

The results were announced at a black-tie gala awards dinner at the Battersea Park Events Arena in London, with over 1,300 guests in attendance. The judges awarded Softcat the accolade for meeting the four key awards criteria of professionalism, excellence, innovation and measurable success. Softcat has enjoyed another outstanding year, demonstrating record-breaking levels of customer satisfaction and increasing its turnover to £307m.

Colin Brown, Softcat’s deputy managing director, said: “It’s a privilege to accept this award on behalf of Softcat. We continually strive to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations, and it’s especially pleasing to have our efforts rewarded by BCS – The Chartered Institute for IT and Computing.”

The UK IT Industry Awards provide the benchmark for exceptional business performance in the computer industry. The awards seek to reward ‘significant contributions by UK organisations to the development and deployment of innovative IT systems that improve business operation or enhance public services’. They distinguish individuals, projects, organisations and technologies that have made the most significant contributions in the use, development and deployment of IT.
