ECG Announces the Commencement of the 2013 National Physician Reimbursement Survey
Washington, D.C. – May 8, 2013 – ECG Management Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s premier healthcare management consulting firms, has announced the commencement of its National Physician Reimbursement Survey. The survey offers in-depth analyses of regional and national reimbursement market trends and will serve as an invaluable resource for organizations seeking current and relevant data and intelligence to support contract negotiations and payor strategy development.
ECG’s survey offers a unique solution to providers seeking targeted reimbursement benchmark information for community physicians, pediatric subspecialists, and faculty practice plan physicians. Providers will not only receive data on national and regional reimbursement levels for each peer group but can also expect to gain strategic insight into reform-related arrangements and emerging payment models. This level of information is a critical element for establishing commercial payor and physician recruitment/retention strategies based on market forces unique to each peer group.
“In today’s dynamic healthcare reform environment, physicians are seeking reliable data to help position their organizations for the future. ECG has a team of consultants with deep expertise on all matters related to reimbursement strategy, health plan contracting, and payment reform,” said Ms. Terri L. Welter, Principal and head of ECG’s Contracting and Reimbursement practice. She added, “The survey is another tool that supports the reimbursement advisory services we offer our clients and fills a much-needed information gap that exists at many provider organizations.”
Survey participants will receive exclusive access to information related to the key drivers of managed care contracting in the current reimbursement environment, including commercial reimbursement, value-based arrangements, risk-based payment models, payor collaboration, clinical integration efforts, and numerous other key data points. Survey findings will enable physician organizations to:
- Compare reimbursement levels to those of their peers, on a national and regional level, using commercial health plan reimbursement data that is more relevant and in-depth than that of other industry sources.
- Gain insight on trends related to value-based arrangements, population management initiatives, payor collaborative arrangements, and other clinical integration efforts across the national market.
- Understand the prevalence and financial impact of incentive- and risk-based contracting arrangements within regional and national markets to assess the relative transition from fee-for-service to value-based reimbursement.
- Assess and compare organizational readiness for value-based payments and healthcare reform to those of peer organizations.
ECG’s survey methodology uses clear, uniformly applied definitions and a structured data validation process to transform individual participant responses into cohesive and useful information. In addition, ECG conducts a national physician compensation and production survey, which includes data for more than 18,000 providers. ECG performs many other research studies in partnership with organizations such as the American Medical Group Association (AMGA) and Truven Health Analytics.
Survey registration is now open. Distribution of electronic survey instruments began this month, and submissions are accepted through July. Results of the survey data and reports will made available exclusively to participants this fall.
