St. Louis, MO – February 15, 2012 ECG Management Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s premier healthcare management consulting firms, today announced the commencement of the Provider Compensation, Production, and Benefits Surveys, year 2012 based on 2011 data.  The surveys will target physicians and midlevel providers practicing across the nation.  Building on the success of its regional surveys in the Northwest, Midwest, and Southeast, ECG has invited provider organizations across all regions to participate in the 2012 surveys.

ECG’s 2011 surveys analyzed and reported information from over 14,000 healthcare providers representing more than 90 physician specialties and 9 midlevel provider specialties within its Northwest, Midwest, and Southeast regional studies and its National Pediatric study.  The Northwest survey, in its thirteenth year, is recognized as the most valuable and respected resource for provider compensation and production benchmarks in this market.  The Midwest survey, in its eighth year, and the Southeast survey, in its third year, also maintain the support of widely respected provider organizations in these regions that rely on the surveys for comprehensive provider performance benchmarks.

The surveys comprise critical data such as physician and midlevel provider compensation-to-production ratios, including work and total relative value units (RVUs) (calculated by ECG from provider-level CPT code data); procedure code distributions; trends in provider recruiting and retention, including recruiting bonuses by specialty; organization and specialty-specific benefit and retirement plan comparisons; minimum and average work standards; patient access trends; emerging compensation models; and many more provider performance standards.  This information, coupled with ECG’s interpretation of market trends, enables survey members to assess their performance relative to the competitive local, regional, and national market.

ECG survey members gain exclusive access to ECGVault (www.ecgvault.com), ECG’s online data portal that contains current and historical survey benchmarks at the market, organization, and provider level.  Introduced in 2011, ECGVault allows for robust organization and market trending of provider performance benchmarks by specialty, standard and custom reporting, and downloading of benchmarks and related materials.  National, regional, and market-specific data is available via ECGVault.

ECG also conducts the widely recognized National Pediatric Subspecialty Physician Compensation, Production, and Benefits Survey, now entering its sixth year.  In addition, ECG performs a number of specialty-specific physician compensation and production surveys, as well as many other research studies in conjunction with organizations such as the American Medical Group Association (AMGA) and Thomson Reuters.  ECG enjoys the support of many respected organizations across our survey products.

Electronic survey instruments are being distributed in February, with submissions accepted through March.  Preliminary data will be available in July; however, only survey member organizations will have access to the data and reports.
