At a time when many mental health providers are cutting back services or closing their doors, Linden Oaks at Edward has opened a three-wing, 8,500-square foot expansion at its facility on the campus of Edward Hospital, 801 S. Washington St. in Naperville, Ill.  In addition, Linden Oaks is completely renovating a 40,000-square foot building across the street from its current Mill St. location in Naperville and will use the facility as its new outpatient site.

“We are thrilled to be expanding our inpatient care for adolescents, adults and older adults who have severe behavioral health needs.  Additional space means we can help even more people who are referred to Linden Oaks,” says Mary Lou Mastro, President & CEO, Linden Oaks.

Inpatient Expansion

The $4.3 million project means more space for and an expansion of Linden Oaks’ inpatient programs.  Highlights include:

  • Three single-floor additions (8,500 square feet total) to existing patient wings of the Linden Oaks facility on Edward Hospital’s Naperville campus
  • 14 additional beds (for adolescent, adult, chemical dependency, eating disorders and geriatrics patients) – this will increase Linden Oaks’ bed count to 108
  • More day rooms, group rooms, and consultation rooms
  • Additional staff/patient locker rooms

Outpatient Center

Renovation continues in a 40,000-square foot building that will serve as Linden Oaks’ new outpatient center for prevention, education, diagnosis and treatment of behavioral health conditions and disorders.  The center is located on Technology Dr. (Mill St.), north of Ogden Ave. in Naperville, across the street from the current Linden Oaks outpatient site.  When the center opens (August 2012), all of Linden Oaks’ outpatient services will be centrally located, with the exception of eating disorders.  Features of the new outpatient center include:

  • Chemical dependency, depression, self-injury, bi-polar disorder and anxiety treatment for adults and adolescents
  • A 100-seat conference center for support programs, and outpatient and community education
  • New home for Linden Oaks Medical Group and its eight board certified psychiatrists

Linden Oaks at Edward is a 108-bed behavioral health hospital on Edward Hospital’s Naperville campus with offices in Naperville, Plainfield, St. Charles, Woodridge and Yorkville.  Linden Oaks uses a combination of inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and traditional outpatient programs to treat adolescents, adults and older adults.

Linden Oaks’ treatment teams are made up of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals, including the physicians of Linden Oaks Medical Group and psychologists, clinical social workers, professional counselors, registered nurses and occupational therapists.  All are certified and/or licensed in their area of practice.

They treat patients for conditions such as anxiety disorders, chemical dependency, depression, eating disorders, geriatric conditions and self-injury, and provide a full range of services for adolescents.

The Joint Commission has awarded Linden Oaks the Gold Seal of Approval for commitment to excellence in six disease management programs:  addiction services, bipolar disorders, depression, eating disorders, geriatrics and self-injury.

Earlier this year, Linden Oaks became the first psychiatric hospital in Illinois and the Midwest to be honored with the American Nurses Association’s (ANA) Award for Outstanding Nursing Quality, which is determined by the ANA’s National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators.
