Press release January 24, 2024

edyoutec’s subsidiary Wegesrand has finished developing and launching the digital rehabilitation platform Mico for the German insurance company DRV.

The digital platform Mico will, through individually adapted, and sometimes playful, exercises, motivate rehabilitation clients to make even greater use of the rehabilitation services offered by the German pension insurance companies Oldenburg-Bremen, Bund and Braunschweig-Hannover for their own health development.

The goal is to more effectively reach the groups of insured persons who have undergone medical treatment for a longer period of time and who are unsure of the extent to which they will be able to return to work. Each year, over a million medical and vocational rehabilitation programs are carried out on behalf of the German Pension Insurance (DRV). This makes it the largest provider of rehabilitation services in Germany.

With Mico, aspiring rehabilitators receive a preparation for medical rehabilitation that is tailored to their needs, barriers and skills;  contact with a rehabilitation coach is also possible. The aim is to increase rehabilitation motivation and satisfaction among the target group. In addition to audio and video, game-based concepts and gamification elements are also used.

The support and interaction tool in Mico has a modular structure and covers the most important topics in the rehabilitation process: goals, needs, information and reflection, interaction and communication. Participants also have access to additional suggestions such as checklists and to-do lists, as well as testimonials from other rehabilitators. The platform also contains important links to health information and rehabilitation clinics.

Wegesrand's project manager, Paul Lanzendorf, comments:

"The game-based methods of rehabilitation were already developed in the 1980s and today have gained enormous importance. Gamification has great potential to increase the motivation of the participants and enable an effective treatment process."

DRV Oldenburg-Bremen’s, Linda Richter, comments:

"With Mico, we get a digital rehabilitation platform whose architecture gives us the freedom to adapt the content.  This is a prerequisite for the product's service life and high-frequency use. We are very pleased with our cooperation with Wegesrand and look forward to continuing to develop our digital offering with the expertise they have to offer."
