Advanced Core Technologies for Internet Protocol to be developed at Tuscon Labs

New Internet Protocol R&D Labs Open Advanced Core Technologies for Internet Protocol to be developed at Tuscon Labs MOUNTAIN VIEW, California - 5 April 2001 - Effnet, Inc., a leading provider of efficient networking technology, announced today the opening of a new research and development facility in Tucson, Arizona. Effnet's Tucson Labs is opening 5 April under the leadership of Effnet co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Professor Stephen Pink. The purpose of the Labs is to provide research and advanced development for new Effnet products. According to Pink, the Labs will be creating the next- generation Internet Protocol for Effnet, IP version 6, as well as Multicast IP fast forwarding to support streaming real-time network video and audio, as well as other applications. The Labs will also be delivering Effnet's new Wireless Internet product, IP Header Compression to a number of new customers, including newly- signed Agere Systems (formerly Lucent Microelectronics). Heading up the Wireless Internet product design team at the Tuscon Labs is Dr. Mikael Degermark, also an Effnet co-founder and chair of the Robust Header Compression (RoHC) standardization group in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). The Effnet Tucson Labs will be working closely with the newly funded Effnet project at the University of Arizona to provide research and advance development to the rest of the Effnet R&D organization.
