Carpets from ege awarded with BRE A+ ratings
ege carpets, a major supplier to the PFI Education and Healthcare sectors throughout the UK , have achieved the converted BRE A+ ratings on a range of its products.
With the increasing focus on the environmental impact from building materials throughout their entire lifecycle it has become increasingly important to document the environmental impact of the building materials.
Environmental profiles from BRE Certification Ltd. make it possible to register the products in a universal measuring system providing lifecycle assessment information on the environmental impact of the products. The profiles enable architects, designers and specifiers etc. to choose carpets based on their environmental profile.
The BRE certificate states the performance of individual products against a set of defined environmental criteria. It awards credit to products incorporating materials with low impact on the environment throughout the product’s full lifecycle.
Impresses with environmental accreditations
ege is proud to confirm that 5 of their ranges now carry the BRE A+ certification for use in a variety of application areas. This now provides the PFI/ BSfF sector with up to 300 design and several thousand colour options to deliver stunning, unique interiors for the same cost as a simple less inspiring plain carpet. Integrated design features such as ‘way finding’ and ‘classroom or ward identification’ can now be included in the schemes without additional joins or installation cost so often associated with any sophisticated scheme. Additionally 5 of the company’s carpet tile products are now A rated through the BRE Environmental profiling system.
Nigel Davey, ege’s UK sales director comments.’’This is a major positional change for us. ege has for many years placed great importance on the environmental issues. Anyone looking at our web site can see a plethora of impressive environmental accreditations, such as LEED, BASTA and BRE of which we are duly proud. The simple addition of BRE A+ we hope further demonstrates our continued press for better and better environmental performance from our products and production facilities. Our current additional focus is now on the ‘cradle to cradle’ initiatives which present some major challenges”.
Responsible design
By simply combining the environmental A+ factor to the advanced design and performance opportunities available to PFI designers and ege become an almost automatic partner to deliver the very best in modern Education and Healthcare projects.
