Beats out Apple in Cloud Storage & Data Center Category

April 17, 2012 (St. Louis) – St. Louis-based Appistry, a leading developer of cloud-based architecture for advanced data management, has been named one of CRN Magazine’s 20 “Coolest Cloud Storage & Data Center Vendors.” Among other firms, Appistry beat out the likes of Apple and Dropbox for the coveted ranking, taking the number four overall spot on the list.

“As the need to effectively crunch big data in complex fields like genomics and geospatial analysis, this is indeed a great honor from CRN as it signifies we are doing it right,” said Appistry CEO Kevin Haar. “We’re applying cloud solutions, analytics and high performance computing technology to help researchers examine millions of pieces of data to uncover things like the genetic map to better understand medical treatments and susceptibility to disease – tackling issues more accurately and faster than every before.”

CRN described Appistry as “bent on demystifying big data with its Ayrris offering, which unlocks the ability to capture, store, manipulate and analyze massive amounts of data and turn it into actionable intelligence.”

Appistry’s cloud technology is the cornerstone to accelerate the development of innovative solutions and new approaches for Next Generation Sequencing, High-Throughput Computing, Personalized Medicine, High-Resolution Satellites and other breakthrough technologies.

As more research facilities use the cloud to analyze and store large amounts of genetic data, Appistry has taken the further steps to ensure that their Ayrris/BIO genomic cloud and analytics service both operate under the same secure environment required of covered entities under HIPAA regulations.
