ELEKTA RECEIVES COURT RULING IN US PATENT DISPUTE A court in California, after a jury decision in lower court, has ruled that Elekta is to pay damages of SEK xx million to an American company for an alleged [patent infringement ...insert wording from court ]. Elekta will appeal the ruling to a higher court. Elekta's opinion, which is supported by independent legal counsel in the case, is that the presented claim lacks sufficient grounds and that Elekta's appeal to the higher court has a strong defense. The ruling will not affect Elekta's operating results during the current fiscal year 2001/2002, since Elekta is appealing the ruling. Any possible future expenses, with the exception of court costs, are covered by an insurance facility for a wide range of liability-related situations, such as patent infringement, product liability and similar contingencies. Elekta previously disclosed information about this dispute in its prospectus for the new issue in 1999 and in the 2000/2001 Annual Report. ***** Elekta is a world-leading supplier of advanced and innovative radiation oncology and neurosurgery solutions and services for precise treatment of cancer and brain disorders.
