UK cancer patients to benefit from sophisticated radiation treatment devices and software

CRAWLEY, England, April 4 – In a deal worth GBP 19 million, NHS Supply Chain has agreed to purchase several Elekta Synergy® linear accelerators with Agility™ multileaf collimators as well as X-ray Volume Imaging (XVI) systems and licenses to connect to Elekta’s MOSAIQ® oncology information system.

Both Elekta Synergy and Agility offer advanced radiotherapy techniques that enable high precision treatment in managing a range of cancers. MOSAIQ creates an efficient clinical environment from diagnosis to treatment, giving clinicians more time to focus on patients.

Andrew Brown, Managing Director of Capital Solutions within NHS Supply Chain, says: “By purchasing a range of cancer treatment solutions from Elekta, we expect to deliver high clinical value to several National Health Service (NHS) health care organizations and hospitals – as responsibly, cost-effectively and sustainably as possible.

“This deal with Elekta reflects our commitment to ensuring that patients receive the most efficient and latest treatment delivery techniques.”

Ian Alexander, Executive Vice President Region Europe, Africa, Latin America and Middle East at Elekta, says: “Getting the right treatment option for patients with cancer means better outcomes and fewer side effects. That’s why we have worked closely with the NHS for more than 20 years.”

The deal was booked during Elekta’s fourth quarter of its fiscal year.
