VELI-MATTI MATTILA NEW CEO OF ELISA GROUP

The Board of Directors of Elisa Communications Corporation has
appointed Veli-Matti Mattila, M.Sc. (Eng.), MBA, aged 41, as Chief
Executive Officer of Elisa Group. He will begin in this task on 1
July 2003 and the present CEO Matti Mattheiszen, aged 60, will
retire in accordance with his executive contract.

Veli-Matti Mattila has functioned since 1997 as CEO of Oy LM
Ericsson Ab and in parallel as Deputy Head of the Nordic and
Baltic sales unit of the Ericsson Group. He joined the Ericsson
Group in 1986 and has worked in various assignments in Finland and
in the United States. His previous career includes expert advisory
tasks in the Swiss company Ascom Hasler AG.

Matti Mattheiszen, M. Sc. (Eng.), has served Elisa Group and its
predecessor company Helsinki Telephone Association since 1971.
Mattheiszen has been the Chief Executive Officer of the publicly
listed Helsinki Telephone Corporation, later Elisa Communications
Corporation, since 1997.
