India, 11 February 2020: From February 28 until March 1, Elkem Foundry Products will be supporting IFEX 2020 at the Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai, India. There, Elkem will highlight their package to support foundries with not only excellent products but also crucial technical advice.

The 16th IFEX 2020, part of 68th Indian Foundry Congress, provides again an excellent platform for Indian as well as overseas companies to demonstrate their state-of-the art technologies and services. Over the years IFEX has emerged as the most important platform for the foundry industry of the Indian Sub-Continent. Elkem Foundry Products is delighted to be present this year, showcasing innovative solution packages for foundries in the region.

Technical support is key

In order to support foundries with the production of premium castings, Elkem Foundry Products has a dedicated team of metallurgists and process engineers, which offer support on site. Whether it’s for analysing casting defects, improving the metal treatment, optimising the process, or dedicated customer seminars, Elkem’s team has global experience.

Elkem Innovation

Product development is an important part of innovation. Elkem develops products tailormade to produce speciality steels, and as additives in the metal treatment of iron for the foundry industry. Elkem’s’ own laboratories are in Norway, India and China and comprise chemical analytical, material characterisation and metallographic capability.  This enables Elkem to have a controlled evaluation of new products and processes. This results amongst others in the development of various high potent inoculants, inserts and steel applications like Elkem’s Grain Refiner (EGR) Wearseed ™ and Stainseed ™, but also allows local analysis of customer samples.

Solutions for railway castings

A global growth area for steel and cast iron is the upgrading of railway infrastructure to accommodate high-speed trains (HST), bullet trains and metro rails. Elkem’s experience in this area allows foundries to improve their process and products tremendously, whether for iron castings or for steel applications. EGR for example provides finer grain structure, which improves mechanical properties in the final product. Further, quality products for controlling metallurgical defects, for example micro shrinkage, allow for sound production of safety critical components such as rail ties.

Elkem welcomes you at IFEX 2020, at stand E48 (Hall 2 & 3), where the technical team will be available for further support and solutions to challenges.
