Elmia fair fully booked a year ahead
In less than a year Elmia Welding & Joining Technology will open its doors again. But the fair is already basically fully booked.
“This is the best proof we’ve created a fair the industry really likes,” comments Lina Kåvestam, Project Manager at Elmia.
When Elmia Welding & Joining Technology was held for the first time in 2012 it was a success. The floor space was sold out and more than 6,000 visitors attended. When the dates of the next fair were released (6–9 May 2014) the exhibition hall was soon fully booked.
“In my view this success is due to three factors,” explains Mathias Lundin, Managing Director of the trade association the Swedish Welding Commission. “First, as a trade organisation we have deliberately chosen to commit strongly to this fair. And when you decide to do something and really go for it, things tend to turn out well. Second, we have a close partnership with Elmia.”
He says the third factor is his industry’s own interest and desire to network and cooperate.
“They realise the need for this – that you can’t solve all your problems alone in your room – you need input from other people. The fair is a meeting place where people can both network and access knowledge.”
The Swedish Welding Commission recently commissioned a survey of its members, who gave high marks to the fair.
“Yes, the fair was one of the activities our members ranked highly,” Lundin says.
Elmia Welding & Joining Technology presents the welding industry’s entire range of offerings and is aimed at visitors in such sectors as vehicle manufacturing, heating, ventilation and sanitation engineering, steel construction and energy. The fair attracts purchasers, design engineers, production managers and, not least, welders themselves.
“We’re working hard to create a meeting place that delivers what the industry wants. Business deals, networking and new knowledge are the cornerstones of the fair,” Lina Kåvestam concludes.
