Laura Kuensting, DNP, APRN, PCNS-BC, CPNP, CPEN, Hired to Lead Emergency Nurses Association Institute of Emergency Nursing Advanced Practice
March 16, 2015 – The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) today announced the appointment of Laura Kuensting, DNP, APRN, PCNS-BC, CPNP, CPEN, to serve as Director of the Emergency Nurses Association’s fourth Institute, the Institute of Emergency Nursing Advanced Practice (IENAP).
A native of St. Louis, Kuensting received her Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at St. Louis University. She most recently served as a pediatric nurse practitioner and pediatric clinical nurse specialist at Mercy Hospital, St. Louis, and is an assistant teaching professor in the graduate nursing program at the University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo.
IENAP was created in November 2014 as a response to the ENA Board’s recognition of the need for education, programs and resources designed to meet the unique needs of advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs).
“Laura is a welcome addition to the ENA team. Her extensive experience in advanced practice emergency nursing and emergency nursing will undoubtedly provide value to not only an advanced segment of nurses actively looking for more education and resources, but for the entire profession of emergency nursing,” said ENA Executive Director Susan Hohenhaus, LPD, RN, CEN, FAEN. “Laura has hit the ground running with determination for developing IENAP in partnership with APRN volunteer leaders that will provide even more value for our members.”
