Employers Group honors companies with their 3rd Annual “Lean Crystal Awards”

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Employers Group, a non-profit human resources consulting firm, awarded their third annual “Lean Crystal Awards” to companies who have utilized their Lean Training Services to increase the productivity and performance of their business.  Winners included Intelligent Technologies, San Diego (Best Overall Implementation of Lean), Endress+Hauser Conducta, Anaheim (Best Implementation of Lean 5S: Workplace Organization), and Toyo / Nitto Tire USA Corp, Cypress (Best Implementation of Lean Sigma).

The event, held at the Hotel Huntington Beach, featured presentations from each of the three winning companies as well as a best practices forum for all attendees to learn and share their implementation progress and successes.  Leadership from each of the winning and nominated companies were there to accept the awards.

“The companies we’re celebrating today have made tremendous improvements to their process-flow, worksite organization, communication, and internal leadership and ownership.  This leads to reduced costs and scrap; less returns and re-work, streamlined operations; higher employee morale and pride; increased revenue, profitability and customer satisfaction,” says David Burkhart, Senior Trainer and Lean Specialist for Employers Group.  “For all the companies I’ve worked with over the years, I get the most satisfaction from watching these worksites transform.  The change comes not only from how a workplace is set up and organized, but how employees grow and improve their own processes.  It’s amazing.”

Companies were judged on a variety of criteria, including: quality improvement of product or service, workflow efficiency gains, cost savings, level of safety enhancement, and overall implementation.

“While the companies we celebrated today were primarily manufacturing-based, the concept of Lean Processes can be applied to any industry – whether professional services, hospitality, or even government.  It’s all about trimming out what you don’t need and taking advantage of what you have.  We believe that our Lean Training helps companies reach their best potential without increasing a draw on resources.  In today’s economy, it’s not just the way to do business – it’s the best way.”

Other companies recognized were One Lambda, Canoga Park, Calif., Venture Manufacturing, Anaheim & Newark, Calif., and Interplex Nascal, Tustin, Calif.
