From £599 Per Person In June

From the cobbled streets of Edinburgh to the grassy knolls and rolling fields of the English countryside, the UK is a veritable feast of cultural, natural and urban treasures. Encounters Travel (www.encounterstravel.com / 0800 088 6002) offers a brand new Great Britain Encounters tour, for those wanting to explore what lies on their doorstep and beyond. Taking in the city that brought us The Beatles, the highland home of ‘Braveheart’, the birthplace of William Shakespeare and much more, this seven-day tour provides a great introduction to the three countries that make Britain great. Available for selected departures from 19 June until 20 November from £599 per person, the price includes accommodation on a mixed board basis, travel to each destination on the itinerary by luxury coach, all entrance fees and experienced local guides throughout.

Starting in London, head through the lush English countryside to the university city of Cambridge, before continuing north to York, a city steeped in history and culture, where there is the opportunity to enjoy a walking tour, followed by a pint in one of the city’s traditional pubs. The tour then makes its way towards the Scottish border, with time spent at Hadrian’s Wall and the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey, before arriving in Edinburgh. Take in the castle and Edinburgh zoo, then move onwards towards the highlands; home of William Wallace and the Loch Ness Monster! Enjoy whiskey tasting at a distillery in Fort William and take in Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain, and also Glencoe – a spectacular glen with one of the most fascinating yet saddest stories encompassing Scotland's history. From here the tour continues to Liverpool – a lively city famous for its football, colourful characters and of course, The Beatles!  After a 'Magical Mystery Coach Tour' of the sights and a visit to ‘The Cavern’, the tour visits the literary city of Stratford-On-Avon, Wales’ capital city Cardiff, then the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath.
