Off-the-Shelf Enea Element Communications and Network Management Solution Reduces Time to Market

Stockholm, Sweden, and San Jose, Calif.,- September 11,  2008 - Enea® (Nordic Exchange/Small Cap/ENEA), a world leading provider of network software and services, today announced that Voiceboard is using the Enea® Element middleware and professional services to develop a new VoIP-networked military radio telecommunications system. Voiceboard will use Element to develop a distributed, fault-tolerant VoIP gateway that facilitates communications between mobile radio, SATCOM terminals, telephone systems, user headsets and VoIP networked communication terminals operating in a tactical military environment.

"The complex telecommunications systems utilized for tactical military environments requires a high availability middleware solution that provides integrated supervision, control, fault management, and upgrade management services," said Terry Pearson, vice president of marketing at Enea. "We're pleased that Voiceboard has selected our Element middleware and professional services team to accelerate deployment of their VoIP-based tactical communications equipment."

"We're excited to be working with Enea on this project," said Greg Peacock, Voiceboard CTO. "Middleware development is one of the most complex, costly, and time-consuming aspects of deploying reliable, high-availability VoIP networked systems. Enea's Element middleware, together with their top-notch professional services, provide an off-the-shelf communications and network management solution that is enabling us to focus our development efforts and accelerate deployment of our next generation tactical military VoIP radio telecommunication systems".

Element is a high-availability, standards-based middleware platform for building robust, high-performance applications that integrate hardware and system software components into a cohesive communications platform.  It gives equipment makers the COTS middleware platform they need to rapidly deliver next generation communications systems while lowering costs, reducing risk and focusing development efforts on innovation and differentiation.

Element provides core services for instrumenting, monitoring, and synchronizing applications spread across multiple operating systems and processors. It also provides network supervision, fault management, DSP management, shelf management, and upgrade management services that make it easier to monitor, repair, configure, and upgrade live systems as they operate in the field.
