Enea acquires UK company Polyhedra

Enea acquires UK company Polyhedra - strengthens OSE with database technology Enea has acquired all the shares in UK company Polyhedra Plc. "This acquisition means we're strengthening Enea OSE Systems' position in the market. We're bringing added value to the development of future versions of the OSE realtime operating system," comments Enea's CEO Ola Berglund. Polyhedra develops and sells advanced database technology that will now be integrated with subsidiary Enea OSE Systems' realtime operating system, OSE. The acquisition is part of Enea's strategy of adapting OSE to meet the increasing demands imposed on integrated solutions in the communications industry. "The integration of Polyhedra with OSE means we'll be able to offer a more complete product for customers developing high availability solutions," continues Berglund. Enea OSE Systems and Polyhedra have had a working partnership previously, and the acquisition means Enea OSE Systems will be able to make even better use of Polyhedra's excellent technology in the area. "We've worked with Enea OSE Systems in a number of previous projects. By integrating our products with OSE, we can offer a unique solution," says Dave Stoneham, founder of Polyhedra Plc. Traditional database technology cannot always cope with the high demands imposed by the communications industry today. Polyhedra fills the vacuum and specialises, like Enea OSE Systems, in tele- and data communication products, including next-generation wireless technology. Polyhedra's head office is in Cranfield in the UK, and the company is also active in the USA. The company, with its 20 employees, will operate as an Enea Data subsidiary. Enea Data is acquiring all the shares in Polyhedra, and the purchase price comprises 3,300,000 shares in Enea Data AB and SEK 1.7m in cash. Polyhedra's sales during 2000 totalled £1.5m/$2.2m, with profits of £140k/$210k. The profit margin was 9.3%.
