New President of Enea Embedded Technology Per Åkerberg has been appointed President of Enea's largest business unit, Enea Embedded Technology. The recruitment is a part of Enea's ongoing efforts to reposition and focus the business on the OSE product line, product-centric consulting and related expert services within technical system development. Enea Embedded Technology develops and sells the OSE product line in a global market and today has its largest customers in the telecom segment. Per Åkerberg, 39, comes from Telelogic where he worked as Senior Vice President with oversight of the Scandinavian market and Germany. Telelogic is a world-leading supplier of tools and services for the development of advanced software products. As President of Enea Embedded Technology, Per Åkerberg will be a member of Enea's management group with responsibility for sales and development of the company's products and services that are based on OSE, the real- time operating system developed in-house. "Per has great experience of the telecom market with a strong focus on international sales of software and expert services. I am happy to be able to welcome Per to Enea," says Enea's President and CEO Johan Wall. Per Åkerberg will begin in his new position on October 1. Enea Embedded Technology's acting President, Peter Johansson, will remain in Enea's management group and work with business development. "Enea has both a strong standing and considerable potential in a growing global market. The challenge in my new job is to take advantage of Enea's technical leadership and innovative abilities to create a unique position in the market," Per Åkerberg says. Enea's focus on the OSE product line means that product licenses will stand for the greater part of the Group's income. In parallel, an overhaul of contract structures is under way, the aim of which is to move away from one-time payments and instead sign agreements based on subscriptions and royalties that provide recurring income. The global market for real-time operating systems is estimated to be worth approximately USD 750 million annually, slightly more than a third of which come from telecom applications. Enea estimates that OSE is currently used in slightly more than 15 percent of the world's cell phones and about half of the world's base stations. OSE's market share in 3G equipment is estimated to be even larger with good opportunities for growth.
