Energy & Utility Skills (EU Skills) in partnership with QMSA Ltd win Best Training Initiative of the Year Award at the 2013 Energy Efficiency & Renewables Awards.

More than 700 people attended the prestigious 2013 Energy Efficiency & Renewables Awards ceremony, designed to inspire the industry to greater heights. The Best Training Initiative of the Year award was in recognition of the Green Deal, Energy Companies Obligation and Renewables (GDER) training package. The award winning training package included a training workshop and certificate designed to prepare gas installers to develop their existing businesses by entering into new markets.

Neil Robertson, Chief Executive of EU Skills, said: “We are delighted to have won the award as we were up against some incredible nominations. By winning the award it adds even more credibility to our already fantastic EU Skills Network programme for small businesses.

“The award is a great achievement in itself and provides fantastic recognition of how we are working hard to meet the needs of our industry.”

The training package includes a training workshop and certificate on preparing businesses for GDER, updates and bulletins about key industry news and developments, on-going support to prepare small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) for GDER work as well as assessment for Certification for Green Deal Installers (PAS2030)/ Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

Andy Flook, Director of QMSA Ltd, added: “We are thrilled to have achieved such an award. Gas installers, who have benefited from the training, have already given us plenty of positive feedback but the award is something special for both QMSA and EU Skills.”

Paul Edgar, Managing Director of GASS Appliance Sales & Servicing Ltd, talks about the benefits of being part of the training programme: “We have been able to apply for PAS 2030 accreditation and implement a quality management system; supported by the network, we’ve done all this without the huge time and financial investment you would normally expect.”

The training package programme is fully funded by EU Skills, through co-investment from UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) as part of the Growth and Innovation Fund.

About the EU Skills Network:

The EU Skills Network is a place for small businesses in the gas and waste management industries to get together and find real solutions to meet business needs.

The Network will open doors for you; help you pitch for bigger contracts and, above all, help you to find and train your people.

By working closely with businesses of the same size in the same industry, you’ll find a number of solutions to your most common business problems. The network acts as a resource pool so that you can ask for help and, in return, give another business a helping hand.

It’s your network. Together we can build your business to be the best it can be.
