Supervisors celebrate success
Hartlepool College saw colleagues, friends and family gather to celebrate the success of eight engineering construction industry supervisors. The supervisors had successfully completed a brand new, Advanced Supervisor Development Programme (ASDP) developed and delivered by The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB).
The awards ceremony which took place last night (Wednesday 10thOctober), saw Aldo Maggiorini and James Norman from Amec, Neil Roberts and David Spires both from C&A Pumps, Neil Aisbitt from Jacobs, Andrew Watson from Cordell and Ian Colman from IMH pick up their diplomas.
The programme, piloted in the North East for the past year, is delivered through a mixture of workshops, self-learning by research and/or e-mail, and written assignments. The Level 5 programme was developed by the ECITB at the request of the engineering construction industry with the aim of providing a structured development programme for supervisors who have the potential to progress to senior or advanced supervisory levels.
Steve Franklin, Project Manager for the ECITB said: “ My congratulations to everyone who successfully completed the programme. This is a great course that offers a structured development pathway for supervisors who have potential and wish to advance. Completion of the project course components results in the award of a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management awarded by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). Learners can then apply to the CMI for full membership and progress to Chartered Manager status.
“All of the ECITB’s courses are created with member companies and training providers in response to industry need and this is an exemplary example of that collaborative approach.”
Following the success of the pilot it is hoped that the course will soon be available via the ECITB’s network of over 120 training providers.
