Following the popularity of its Halloween tours atKenilworthCastle, English Heritage is taking full advantage of the autumn’s early dusk by reopening for an evening of terrifying tours around the castle’s grounds.

On Friday 18 November, select groups of intrepid explorers will face the darkness, as they join local ghost tour experts, A Walk on the Dark Side, for a visit toEngland’s largest ruined castle that they will never forget. The tours, which take place at8.00pmand9.00pm, explore some of Warwickshire’s most disturbing stories of ghosts, spectres and serial killers!

“A Walk on the Dark Side are known for organising some of the scariest tours in the country, so this really isn’t intended for the faint-hearted,” comments English Heritage’s regional events manager, Karen Pike. “This is far more than simply a tour where you hear spooky stories, as the tour makes fantastic use not only of terrifying tales, but also plays on the participants’ fears to provide a truly psychological experience.”

There are two tours on Friday 18 November, the first at8.00pmand the second at9.00pm. Each tour lasts around an hour, and includes a warming cup of soup at the end to help participants recover from the chills that will run down their spines!

Tickets are £20.00 per person (£16.00 for English Heritage members) and should be pre-booked by calling 0870 333 1183.  Please note that this tour is unsuitable for under 16s and those of a nervous disposition.  Participants are advised to wear clothing suitable to all weather conditions, and stout boots, as the ground can be uneven in places.
