Half price offer for disappointed Great Yorkshire Show ticket holders

With rain brining the Great Yorkshire Show to a premature end, English Heritage is offering disappointed show ticket holders the chance to visit any of its sites for half price for the rest of the week to demonstrate that rural North Yorkshire is still very much open for business.

“It has been a dreadful summer weather-wise so far, and although it was sudden deluges yesterday that proved the last straw for the Great Yorkshire Show, all of our sites around Yorkshire remain very much open for business,” comments sales and marketing manager, Caroline Sinclair. “Anyone who is now wondering what to do with the time they had booked off for the Great Yorkshire Show is more than welcome to come along to any of our sites – from Whitby Abbey and Scarborough Castle on the coast to rural locations like Rievaulx Abbey or Helmsley Castle.”

Great Yorkshire Show ticket holders will simply need to show their show ticket or booking confirmation at the admission desk at any English Heritage site to take advantage of the discount.

The offer is valid at:

  • Whitby Abbey
  • Clifford’s Tower, York
  • Brodsworth Hall & Gardens, near Doncaster
  • Rievaulx Abbey, near Helmsley
  • Helmsley Castle
  • Middleham Castle
  • Richmond Castle
  • Conisbrough Castle
  • Mount Grace Priory, near Northallerton

“Anyone worried that they will miss out on any of the locally produced foods that are always such an important part of the show need not worry – our tea room at Rievaulx Abbey uses only seasonal ingredients from local suppliers in its delicious sandwiches, soups and home-made cakes, so you can still enjoy a taste of Yorkshire whilst you are out and about,” adds Caroline.

Most sites are open 10.00am to 6.00pm daily. For more details, directions or admission prices, please visit www.english-heritage.org.uk/yorkshire
