Sunday 1 July 2012

The front lawn of Brodsworth Hall will be packed with gleaming cars, whilst to the rear of the property, visitors will be entertained by one of Yorkshire’s best brass bands on Sunday 1 July 2012, as the Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club and the Altofts & Normanton Brass Band come together for a classic weekend!

The vehicles on display stretch from vintage and early models of cars, vans and even buses to modern classics in one of the most accessible displays of ‘thoroughbred’ cars in the region, with proud owners lifting the bonnets to show off the immaculate engines that keep their vehicles purring!

“The Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Company welcomes all kinds of vehicles, which is what makes this event so exciting – you could have a vintage 1940s Ford alongside a contemporary Ferrari or Porsche,” comments English Heritage’s event manager, Jon Hogan. “The one thing that unifies this diverse collection of vehicles is the care and attention lavished on them by every proud owner.”

Whilst the cars are on display around the front of the Hall, to the rear, the distinctive sounds of brass will resound around the gardens with an al fresco performance by the Altofts & Normanton Brass Band, launching Brodsworth Hall’s Sunday Afternoon Band Concert series. The concerts will take place each Sunday afternoon until the end of September from 3.00mp to 5.00pm.

“The Band Concerts have become a staple part of the summer at Brodsworth Hall – every weekend, we have scores of people turning out with deckchairs and picnics to enjoy a relaxing couple of hours on the lawns,” adds Jon.

The car rally runs on Sunday 1 July from 12 noon until 5.00pm, with the band performing from 3.00pm to 5.00pm. Admission prices are £5.70 for adults, £5.10 for concessions and £3.40 for children (Hall admission extra). English Heritage members get in free.
