The UK company brings over 60 years’ experience in automotive and telecom electronics to commercial building automation based on the energy harvesting wireless standard

San Ramon, CA/Nottingham, UK – 8 August 2013 – The EnOcean Alliance is pleased to announce that Pressac Communications Ltd has become a new promoter member. With this step, the established supplier for leading companies in the automotive and telecom industry enters the building automation market. The UK-based company is now a key player in the Alliance, actively supporting the further development of EnOcean energy harvesting wireless standard for energy-efficient building solutions. As an EnOcean Alliance promoter, Pressac contributes its expertise in the field of mechanical and electronic design as well as network cabling solutions.

The EnOcean Alliance is a consortium of more than 300 companies which promote and develop intelligent building solutions integrating energy harvesting wireless technology from EnOcean. In contrast to other wireless products, EnOcean-based devices are batteryless and work completely energy-autonomous. Energy harvesters gain energy from the surrounding environment, including motion, light or temperature differences, to power wireless modules. This energy harvesting principle makes the devices maintenance-free.

Market expansion to sustainable buildings

In 2013, Pressac acquired Seamless Sensing to expand its market presence into sensor, monitoring and control solutions for intelligent energy-saving buildings. Under the Cloud Buildings brand, Seamless Sensing had developed a comprehensive portfolio of energy harvesting wireless sensors and control systems for sustainable buildings.

“Innovation and inventive technologies are at the heart of Pressac’s business, having consistently developed emerging technologies in high growth markets. With our core competencies in sensors, network cabling and security, it was a natural progress for Pressac to expand into the sensing building automation market”, says Jasper Spencer, Sales and Marketing Director, Pressac Communications Ltd.

Jasper Spencer continues: “For our step onto this market, energy harvesting wireless solutions were our first choice. They mark a significant cornerstone of building automation today and in the future, enabling maintenance-free, environmental-friendly products. The EnOcean Alliance offers Pressac a highly established collaboration platform for new partnerships to bring forward energy-efficient control systems.”

Graham Martin, Chairman of the EnOcean Alliance, comments: “We are very happy to welcome Pressac as new promoter member in the EnOcean Alliance. With Pressac’s deep know-how in sensors, network and electronic technologies, we have gained a very strong partner in the ecosystem. We are looking forward to a fruitful exchange to build the future of green buildings.”

Presentation at The Energy Event 2013

Pressac is currently re-engineering its initial portfolio of batteryless wireless sensors, monitoring and control solutions for volume manufacture and OEM customisation. The target is to develop products together with partners of the EnOcean ecosystem into a wider portfolio of energy harvesting wireless solutions and systems which provide greater control and significant cost savings for intelligent buildings and other industries.

At The Energy Event 2013 (10-11 September, Birmingham), Pressac will introduce a comprehensive smart energy meter solution which is ideally suited for retrofit projects. This offer and additional batteryless automation solutions, such as self-powered CO2, temperature and humidity sensors or a current sensor, are in the commercialising process at present. Samples are already available for evaluation; the market rollout will follow at the end of 2013.
