EnOcean appoints Matthias Poppel as COO

Oberhaching, Germany, 10 April 2012 – EnOcean, the inventor of energy harvesting wireless technology, has announced the appointment of Matthias Poppel as Chief Operation Officer (COO). In this newly created position, Matthias is responsible for the operational side of the business. The objective is to further align technology development with specific customer needs, the internationalisation of the company and the opening of new markets. Matthias Poppel reports directly to Laurent Giai-Miniet, CEO of EnOcean.

In hiring Matthias Poppel, EnOcean has gained a distinguished electronics industry expert. He brings to the company a respected 15-year career with success in developing highly profitable products and new markets. Most recently, he was EMEA Director Embedded Processing Marketing and Applications at Texas Instruments (TI). His responsibilities covered the full TI Embedded Processing portfolio, from microcontrollers and microprocessors to wireless transceivers. In this position he was instrumental in leading a comprehensive product strategy that ensured market share growth. Prior to this, Matthias held the position of General Manager of TI’s C2000 Controller product line where he was a key contributor in re-orienting the business. Over the years, Matthias held several management positions in Sales, Marketing, and Product Management at TI’s Semiconductor Group. Matthias holds an engineering degree in Electrical Engineering and a MBA.

His responsibilities at EnOcean include the management, control and organisation of technology development, including quality management. “Matthias’ extensive background in developing innovative products for international markets is ideally suited to carry out EnOcean’s development and business strategy,” says Laurent Giai-Miniet, EnOcean’s CEO. “His further expertise in achieving great success with new embedded products while also maintaining profitability is highly regarded. We are delighted to have Matthias on board to support our growth phase.”
