Austin, Texas — January 14, 2013. Entrada Group presents the latest installment of its offshore manufacturing podcast series: “Why Mexico Remains the Nearshoring Location of Choice for Manufacturers.”

During this interview conducted by Doug Donahue, Principle and Vice President of Business Development for the Entrada Group, Jason King, Vice President at AlixPartners, a global business advisory firm, explains the motivations behind the current trend of manufacturers either nearshoring or reshoring operations to North America. He outlines:

  • That not only are manufacturers nearshoring and reshoring their own operations – their subcontractors and vendors are doing the same
  • Why offshore competitiveness has been degrading for years
  • How North American manufacturers may be able to realize reduced total costs
  • The other benefits, outside of the savings, that manufacturers may be able to achieve

Jason is one of the authors of AlixPartners’ “2012 Executive Perspectives on Near-Shoring,” which highlights that “companies that sell into the U.S. market continue to actively consider near-shoring and/or re-shoring their operations. Amid rising wages, volatile fuel costs, and increasing supply chain risks, a vast majority of executives (97%) say near-shoring decisions are as or more important today than they were last year.” A copy of that study can be accessed here: http://www.AlixPartners.com/en/WhatWeThink/Manufacturing/2012ExecutivePerspectivesonNearShoing.aspx
