Austin, Texas — October 30, 2013. Entrada Group presents the latest installment of its offshore manufacturing podcast series: “Shifting Gears: How Automotive Manufacturers are Leveraging Mexico for New Sales as well as Cost Competitiveness,” which journalists are invited to use to supplement their reporting on automotive manufacturing in Mexico.

During this audio interview conducted by Doug Donahue, Principal and Vice President of Business Development for Entrada Group, Luis Lozano Soto, Tax Services Partner, and the lead partner of the automotive industry group at PwC Mexico, discusses the consultancy’s recent report, “Doing Business in Mexico, Automotive Industry.” It examines how the automotive industry globally – and particularly within Mexico – has changed in the wake of the economic crisis. Doug Donahue and Luis Lozano Soto dig deeper into the report’s findings to discuss:

  • The changes the automotive industry made in response to the 2009 downturn and how it’s been key to recovery;
  • Why a Mexico manufacturing presence is important to automotive suppliers hoping to reach new fast-emerging markets in addition to North America and Europe;
  • The two factors responsible for the North American auto industry catching up to China;
  • The incentives offered to small and midsize manufacturers interested in investing in Mexico.

Luis has 24 years of professional experience in the tax arena, with an extensive background in advising local, multinational and international companies with their Mexican tax issues, consequences, tax compliance and tax planning. Luis has also co-authored the book “Analysis of the Income and Assets Tax” and has taught at various universities in Mexico in the field of taxation.
