Episurf Medical’s nomination committee proposes additional board members

As Episurf Medical’s technology is gaining market acceptance on a global basis, the proposed board members will add a weight of relevant experience in various capacities including sales and marketing, operations and digital health. Episurf Medical is continuing its global commercialization strategy which includes the preparation for a US market entry.

The individuals, Mr. Dennis D. Stripe and Mr. Wil Boren are both US citizens living in the United States. Mr. Stripe is proposed as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Episurf Medical.

Commenting on the nominations, Ashkan Pouya, Chairman of the Committee, said “Dennis and Wil will add significant and relevant expertise to Episurf Medical, earned from decades in the global orthopedic industry and tailored orthopedic solutions in particular. The nomination is a continuation of the development of the Board of Directors which has been ongoing during the year. Lastly, we are very happy to get these individuals onboard as there are few individuals out there with such a deep and specific knowledge about highly relevant disciplines for Episurf.”

Summaries of professional background

DENNIS D. STRIPE

Mr. Dennis Stripe has almost 40 years of experience from various positions in management, sales and marketing on a global basis. When joining Kendall Healthcare Products in 1983, Mr. Stripe started a career within the healthcare industry lasting 33 years. In 1991, Mr. Stripe joined Smith & Nephew as a Senior Product Manager. During his time at Smith & Nephew, Mr. Stripe held various senior positions with Marketing, ending as a Group Marketing Director within the Orthopedic Division. Following a successful career at Smith & Nephew, Mr. Stripe joined the Spine Division of Stryker Corporation in 1996 and remained there until 2008. At Stryker Corporation, Mr. Stripe held several senior management roles on a global basis, including the Vice President of Global Marketing.  In 2008, Mr. Stripe joined OrthoHelix Surgical Designs, a medical technology company focusing on implants and instruments for reconstruction surgery. Mr Stripe remained at OrthoHelix Surgical Designs until 2013 and served as Chief Executive Officer and as member of the Board of Directors for five years. OrthoHelix Surgical Designs was ultimately sold to Nasdaq listed company Tornier N.V., a transaction led by Mr. Stripe.

Mr. Stripe is currently a key executive of California based Compliant Innovations, a company focusing on software solutions for the healthcare industry, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Central-Insurance Companies and Medshape.

Mr. Stripe is married with three children and lives in Mahwah, New Jersey, United States. Mr. Stripe earned his BA in Marketing from Ohio Northern University in 1979. In addition, Mr. Stripe has engaged in executive education at Harvard University and Wharton School of Business.

WIL BOREN

Mr. Wil Boren has 17 years of experience in orthopedics. Mr. Boren joined the Sports Medicine Division of Biomet Orthopedics in 1999. During the following eight years, Mr. Boren held several senior positions in sales and marketing, both on division level as well as on corporate level. In 2007, Mr. Boren assumed the position as President of Biomet’s International Division. In this role, Mr. Boren was responsible for Asia Pacific, Latin America and Canada. In 2013, Mr. Boren assumed the position as President for the Sports Medicine, Extremities and Trauma Division of Biomet.

In 2015, following the acquisition of Biomet by Zimmer, Mr. Boren led companywide strategic initiatives as General Manager for Connected Health, Global Branding and Medical Education. Mr. Boren left Zimmer|Biomet during the summer of 2016.

Mr. Boren is married with four children and lives in Warsaw, Indiana, United States. Mr. Boren earned his Bachelor of Science from Indiana University in 1996 and is a Wharton Business School Fellow.
