EHPT completes billing installation for Retevisión in less than 10 weeks EHPT and PricewaterhouseCoopers have completed a rapid installation of EHPT's billing mediation application, EHPT BMP, for Retevisión, Spain's second fixed telecom operator. The application was deployed in less than 10 weeks. During this period, the project team carried out all activity from initial negotiations through to installation and acceptance testing, right up to taking the system live. Speed of implementation was crucial for Retevisión - a new operator in Spain's fixed telecom service market that has already signed over 1,300,000 subscribers. The company needed a solution, which would enhance its competitiveness, and be fully operational within a short time. Retevisión chose EHPT's BMP (billing mediation platform) because of its flexibility to manage both current and future switch requirements, including switches from a number of different manufacturers. In addition, the application offers high- end functionality to enable Retevisión to introduce new services quickly. Retevisión's existing infrastructure generates two million call data records (CDRs) a day and this is expected to rise considerably by the end of the year. EHPT BMP collects CDRs from Retevisión's various switches and formats the usage data into the structure required by the billing and the interconnect systems. It generates call usage reports for marketing and financial call analysis and can also filter out unbillable calls. This flexibility, inherent in EHPT BMP, has enabled Retevisión to rapidly introduce services such as new Intelligent Networks (INs), VPNs and a part of IN functionality, such as freephone number facility. "We are very pleased with the EHPT BMP solution. It offered us the flexibility we needed to set up the systems in a rapidly changing environment," comments Juan Goicolea, operation support systems manager at Retevisión. "We all worked very closely together which ensured that the solution was installed very quickly." "We are delighted that by working closely with our partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the installation was completed in less than two and a half months," added Per-Erik Johansson, EHPT's product manager. "The speed in which EHPT BMP was installed is inherent in the product itself. It was designed with rapid deployment in mind, something that is a necessity in competitive markets. EHPT BMP is also very easy to adapt which makes it ideal for operators who need to introduce new services rapidly. This is key for Retevisión who is looking for high functionality and ease-of-use."
