Ericsson & Tele2 enter agreement on broadband wireless IP access

Ericsson and Tele2 enter agreement on broadband wireless IP access Ericsson has signed a breakthrough contract with international operator Tele2 for delivery and installation of Ericsson's new Broadband Wireless IP Access System - Beewip. Ericsson's Beewip system is a high performance broadband wireless IP access system intended for small and medium business customers. It provides ''always on'' connection up to 3 Mbps for the end-user. The system offers excellent use of spectrum and high quality of services. Installation of the system has already begun in Oslo and is expected to be completed during the spring. The system being installed in Oslo operates in the ITU standardized 3.5 GHz frequency band. Beewip is based on IP and open standards. This facilitates future development in terms of services, capacity and functionality. Beewip is the ideal solution for residential, small business and home office use, where unrestricted high-speed access to Internet and other data services are needed. "Tele2 Norway is presently in the process of installing the system in Oslo and we are planning to have the network in operation before June this year. This is a very interesting and important pilot project for Tele2."
