Ericsson acquires Hewlett-Packard's remaining interest in EHPT In order to build a strong position within business support systems and billing systems for 3G and Internet payment, Ericsson has decided to acquire Hewlett-Packard's remaining 19 per cent interest in EHPT. EHPT's activities will be consolidated into Ericsson's operations, effective September 4, 2001. By consolidating these operations Ericsson strengthens its telecom management activities and creates new possibilities and competence synergies. HP will remain a strong partner of Ericsson, reselling, implementing and supporting billing systems and business support systems through the different HP organizations. HP has wide expertise in this market area, supporting customers around the world. EHPT today employs around 900 people. The company was founded in 1993 as a joint venture owned by Ericsson and Hewlett-Packard.
