Ericsson adjusts organization to meet growth opportunities and changes in the market - Overall structure maintained. Existing Business Segments adjusted to fit new market situation. Corporate Executive Team extended. Ericsson today announced a modification of the existing organization in order to meet changes in the market and benefit from new growth opportunities. This will support Ericsson's strategy to focus on Mobile Internet. As of 1st July, six new Business Divisions will replace the current three Business Segments. The six new Business Divisions are: * Division Mobile Systems, Head Mats Dahlin * Division Multi Service Networks, Head Einar Lindquist * Division Consumer Products, Head Jan Wäreby * Division Data Backbone and Optical Networks, Head Mike Thurk * Division Internet Applications and Solutions, Head Haijo Pietersma * Division System Services, Head Bert Nordberg The organizational adjustment reflects and strengthens Ericsson's strategic focus on mobility, Mobile Internet and the Multi-services Internet. In the convergence of mobility and the Internet, Ericsson is uniquely positioned to meet the explosive growth foreseen towards Mobile Internet. In 2003, the mobile phone will replace the PC as the most common Internet device. In 2004, there will be around 600 million users of Mobile Internet services such as wireless e-commerce, wireless e-mail and wireless infotainment. The Market Area organization will remain unchanged, with the present five Market Areas. Further additions to the Corporate Executive Team include the appointments of: Karl Alsmar, as Head of the Market Area Central Europe, Middle East and Africa. Carl Olof Blomqvist, as Head of the new Corporate Function Legal Affairs. Stellan Nennerfelt, as Head of the new Corporate Function Operational Development.
