In line with the agreement, Bellwave is developing GPRS phones based on Ericsson's core mobile platform technology. The agreement also includes an option to license both Ericsson's EDGE and the dual mode GPRS/WCDMA mobile platforms.

"We are very happy that Bellwave has chosen Ericsson Mobile Platforms," said Sandeep Chennakeshu, President of Ericsson Mobile Platforms. "Bellwave is a fast growing and innovative company and the choice of the G200 platform allows them to continue to offer exciting products with the latest technology and high quality to their world-wide customers."

"Ericsson Mobile Platform brings vast experience, innovation, leadership and a complete platform offering," said Ki-Gon Yang, President and CEO of Bellwave. "We selected the platform due to its rich feature set, flexibility, stability, low power consumption and small size. Furthermore, the structure of their portfolio is such that we will be able to re-use the know-how we will have gained and also easily port application suites developed in the GPRS project to future projects with Ericsson's EDGE and WCDMA platforms."
